karate for all

yo. i'm karl. i'm going to teach you an aerial, looks like this: there are 2 kinds of aerials, and this here is the easier one. the harder version is called "gymnastic aerial."

karate for all

the aerial i just showed you is more difficult. before you can do learn the tricking aerial, you must be able to do a butterfly kick and cartwheel. that won't cut it, jim. you need a cartwheel as powerful as this.

you must have a good flexibility, unless you want your aerial to suck. the more flexible we are, the easier the aerial. aerial is basically a cartwheel without hands. we can start learning this move by doing a cartwheel on 1 hand. if you mastered that, try doing it with no hands. in order to do it without hands, we have to have massive speed. if our cartwheel is not as quick, we can't do an aerial. we have to bend our lift-off knee a little bit, just so we could spring off from it. the higher our back leg goes, the less we have to rotate during aerial. this particular exercise is very useful for developing a good range of motion.

the less you weigh, the easier the aerial. make sure you jump from your toes. now i'm going to show you a few examples.
